Orange Roots Lesson #8

Teacher Tidbits

Wow! The kids just caught right on to our new A minor scale and cadence -- here's a demo video if help is needed.  Some other new skills this week were rhythmic dictation (writing a rhythm that I played) and drawing a bass clef.

Parents attend next week, and it is Showtime for New World Symphony. Here is the part each student needs to specialize on in order to be ready to play as a group ensemble next week.  I highly encourage you parents to play New World Symphony an ensemble with your child to help prepare. Just pick a different part and play along with your child. So Fun!

Zach- part I
Riley- part II
Ezra- part III

Orange rhythm flashcards- students will now unband ALL 16 cards.  “Caterpillar, grasshopper, butterfly too, the faster part has two beams, there’s your clue"

Purpose in the Play

Russian Sailor Dance

This song is ALWAYS a student favorite. Another great repertoire piece that reinforces ABA form, improvisations, and provides a study in legato and staccato themes. But it's the accelerando at the end that will have your student BEGGING to practice it all the time!

Making Musicians
Have you already found a private teacher for when your student graduates from Let's Play Music? It is best if you can meet in person with the teacher before the summer break to help the new teacher get to know your child's progress while it's still fresh. Here is a great post on our Let's Play Music Blog with tips on how to interview and what to look for in a private teacher.
